Loughborough Falcons won the CSL Everards Cup
on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Loughborough Saints at Barrow
Town. Both teams started brightly playing some decent football on a
good surface but Falcons gradually got on top and took the lead after
17 mins when Marc Schulz tapped in after Adam Smiths shot had been
saved by Saints keeper Dan Riley.Falcons continued to dominate the
first half and Scott Telfer came close to increasing the lead on a
couple of occasions but the score remained 1-0 at the break.
The Falcons started the 2nd half with
the same tempo and increased their lead within 2 minutes of the
restart when a Schulz cross was drilled into the bottom corner by
Ross Locker. As the half progressed, Saints threw men forward but
Falcons back 4 of Scott Goodman, Steve Moult, Mark Schofield and Adam
Locker dealt with the threat and keeper Jamie Witham was only called
on once when he pushed a point-blank header from Dan Stabik over the
bar.Falcons midfield pair of Dean Partner and Sam Hogg
dominated the Saints midfield and continued to create chances to
finish off the game and after Partner picked out sub Cam Noble on the
left with 10 minutes left, his cross was met by Ross Locker to make
it 3-0 and secure the Falcons first trophy since 2005 |
